How mommies get things done

May 2nd, 2007, 9:07 am by Michelle Reese

I had a good morning! I got up, did a few stretches, 10 minutes of cardio (hey, I haven’t done it in a while) and even hand-wrote three pages of a book I hope to complete (someday!). Oh, did I mention I had to get out of bed at 4 a.m. to get this time to myself? For many mommies, I know just sneaking in a shower each day can be a task. I’ve found that if I happen to wake up early (as I wrote not long ago, that isn’t too difficult for me), I can have a minimum 30 minutes to complete a few items on my "mommy wishes to-do this stuff" list. Now, I didn’t unload the dishwasher, throw a load in the laundry or organize the junk drawer. I just did what I wanted to get done. And the rest of the morning went smoothly also - Blue’s Clues on the mini DVD player helped after my daughter woke up and 20 minutes later when her brother joined her. Then they happily played together while I finished my routine, got lunches in order and got myself ready. Of course at 8:15 my son didn’t have shoes on, his backpack wasn’t ready and my daughter was still wandering around in underware - so we made what’s known as the Mad Dash around our house before the bus arrived at 8:25. Thankfully 5 minutes late today.
