When will mommy get it together?

I have a few confessions to make - I caved to my daughter this morning and took a shower with Little People. Lots of them. My daughter wanted to bring a few toys in the shower. I conceded - and five became 10. So at my feet were little dogs, a baby and a stroller, a few cars … you get the picture. I managed not to trip over anything as I got out and she continued playing.

Confession No. 2: My mother in law dropped off an iced coffee this morning. My daughter immediately said, “I’m drinky.” Yup, she had a few sips. Her teachers may notice my normally energetic daughter is probably bouncing (remember the coffee scene from “Alvin and the Chipmunks?”).

Confession No. 3: I may have made a mistake. My son slept in my daughter’s bed last night. My daughter started there but ended up on a crib mattress on the floor in our room. And so did I. The removal of the king bed (we had one queen and one king up until this past weekend) is not working. Though the reason the king went away didn’t have to do with the children (it was just uncomfortable), I thought, “Maybe they’ll sleep in their own rooms if there isn’t an extra bed.” Nope. Not happening. Twice this week my son has tried to sleep on the overstuffed couch in the loft and once I found him on the floor in our room.

But my happy, rested children both got dressed, both ate all their breakfast and both got into the car with shoes on. Guess we made it after all.
